"It gives me great pleasure today to open the new section of railway between Freudenstadt and Hausach. This means that the east-west connection between Stuttgart and Offenburg has been completed. Here, just before Schiltach, is the border crossing between Württemberg and Baden, but the Württemberg trains will continue as far as Hausach where passengers will transfer to the Baden State Railway. A treaty on the construction of this line was concluded as long ago as 1873 and today, on 3 November 1886, the first train will travel along the line!"
